Recessed lights are the best lights for effectively lighting a home. Also known as "can lights," these lights rest seamlessly inside your ceiling. They are best for large spaces that require lots of light. Given that they are hidden, these lights are best at blending in to any space.

Track 

Track lights are similar to recessed lights, but the main difference is that the are attached to your ceiling. Track lights are a series of lights that rest on rail. They are great option because they are easy to install and can be decorative or minimalistic depending on your taste.

Chandeliers and Pendants

Chandeliers and pendants are a fantastic option for you if you want to add some character to your home. These lights are often used as statement pieces and become the focal point of a room. Floor lamps are larger than table lamps and can offer more light in a space. Table lights are best for nightstands and side tables. As a rule of thumb a table lamp should take up no more than a third of the surface it sits on. These lights are decorative so have some fun when choosing your lamp. If you already have a lamp, something as easy as a new shade can give your lamp a fresh look.
